Rami Malek looked effortlessly cool at a special Mr. Robot event on the Lower East Side on Thursday night, wearing nonmatching pants and a Burberry jacket. “I was looking at two suits, and I just liked this kind of ’90s throwback, a little looser fitting,” the Emmy winner explained. “I don’t know if you’re supposed to unmatch suits and I kind of liked this ’50s-throwback shirt. Shoes are Tod’s, polka dot socks; it’s just fun. I took a step back and said this could actually work,” he added.
Malek is already well versed in fashion, having starred recently in the Dior menswear campaign. “I work a lot with Dior,” Malek said. “The designer, Kris Van Assche, is incomparable in his work. He takes a house like Dior and makes it edgy and cool and (gives it) a punk element.”
The 36-year-old actor says his collaboration with Dior is an easy one, noting that the brand is fine with him wearing other labels. “They’ve said, ‘You have style, and if you want to express it another way, you’re not bound to just wear our clothing,’ which I think is very cool,” Malek explained.
Costar Christian Slater did not let much slip when asked about the upcoming season of the critically acclaimed series. “I asked Sam [Esmail, the show’s creater] the same question when he called to tell me what season three was going to look like, and he said ‘disintegration.’ That can either be good or bad,” the Heathers star said. For Slater, appearing on the hit show has a special resonance. “This isn’t my first time up at bat,” he said. Having started working as a child on Broadway and starring in some canceled series has made Slater “much more appreciative” and makes the show “a much more meaningful experience.”
Grace Gummer divulged she had a blast at Esmail and Emmy Rossum’s recent wedding. She danced so much that she threw out her back.
