Gold Derby's combined racetrack odds favor "Mr. Robot" to win the Golden Globe with 1/1 odds. USA's freshman drama has taken the TV landscape by storm in the past couple months, earning kudos at the Globes, Critics' Choice and SAG Awards. It's the type of cool new show that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association may not be able to ignore. Total nominations: 3 including Best Actor Rami Malek and Best Supporting Actor Christian Slater.
Not to be outdone, "Game of Thrones" has second-place odds of 9/4. Surprisingly, HBO's fantasy epic has never won Best Drama at the Globes and only has one acting trophy to its name so far, for supporting actorPeter Dinklage (2011). The show just broke all kinds of records at the Emmys, which begs the question, will the Globes want to get in on the action? Total nominations: 1.
Netflix's "Narcos" is in third place with 8/1 odds. This new series about Colombian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar embraces the "foreign" aspect of the HFPA and voters may want to stand behind a show that's not entirely in English. Total nominations: 2 including Best Actor Wagner Moura.
Fox's "Empire" follows in fourth place with odds of 20/1. This ratings juggernaut began 2015 as the hottest show on TV, but admittedly seemed to fizzle out in recent months during Season 2. If voters are simply considering the buzz and impact of that first season, "Empire" could be our winner. Total nominations: 2 including Best Actress Taraji P. Henson.
Starz's "Outlander" comes in fifth place to win with 28/1 odds. Will passionate support lead to this group of episodes (the second half of Season 1) being a surprise winner when the envelope is opened? Total nominations: 3 including Best Actress Caitriona Balfe and Best Supporting ActorTobias Menzies.
