Last summer’s breakout hit, Mr. Robot, is a few days from beginning production on its highly anticipated second season. Ahead of cameras rolling, the drama added some new faces to the cast, in addition to promoting key season 1 players to series regulars.
Rapper Joey Bada$$ will make his television debut as a character named Leon, who is reported to be a friend of Elliot’s from the neighborhood, who tends to talk a lot and advises the show’s protagonist on life and its many meanings. He’ll be joined by Chris Conroy, who plays Derek, a new love interest for Joanna Wellick.
Speaking of Mrs. Wellick, Stephanie Corneliussen, who had one of the best scenes in last year’s finale, has been promoted to series regular, along with Michael Cristofer, who played Evil Corp exec Phillip Price. The two promotions would seem to suggest that the troubles we know in Elliot’s life aren’t going away anytime soon.
The new additions and series regulars will join Newsroom alum Grace Gummer, who previously signed on as Dominique (Dom) DiPierro, an FBI agent investigating the Evil Corp hack from the season 1 finale.
Mr. Robot is set to return this summer with new episodes, though no premiere date has been set.
