The season 2 finale of Mr. Robot left Elliot (Rami Malek) on the floor with a bullet wound thanks to the recently re-emerged Tyrell Wellick. The very last scene before the credits suggested that Elliot would pull through, but that doesn’t mean everything is going to be all right.

In a new trailer for Mr. Robot season 3, which debuts Oct. 11, the world is still very much in rough shape after the Five-Nine hacks that crippled the American financial system, and things aren’t necessarily looking up.

As we learned in the season 2 finale, Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) was collaborating with Wellick on a phase two, which would destroy all credit records for good (and kill a few innocent people in the process). The new trailer suggests that in addition to finding out what exactly happened in that warehouse, Elliot is trying to get to the bottom of phase two.

Also buzzing in the background is Phillip Price, the E Corp CEO, who states explicitly what was suggested heavily last season, that the hacks could not have happened if he hadn’t allowed them to.

Irving, the new character played by Bobby Cannavale, seems to be much more than the used car salesman that official descriptions have painted him as. His alliance with the Dark Army looks to be pretty clear, but assuming things are so simple with this show is a rookie mistake.
