The hellscape in Mr. Robot's anarchic third season might actually make you feel slightly better about our actual world. For a minute or two.
A brand new season three trailer is here and it plays like a warning against our worst possible future, set to the cutting lyrics of Leonard Cohen's politically-charged 1992 track 'Democracy'. Watch the haunting clip below:
Life has gone from bad to worse for Elliot (Rami Malek) in the third season, with New York City now under military lockdown and the hacker himself still ailing from being shot.
With Elliot out of action, it appears that his best friend Angela (Portia Doubleday) is the one who'll don the Mr Robot mask while chaos unfolds around her.
There's also a quick scene featuring new cast member Bobby Cannavale as Irving — who we're told is a used car salesman, but the armed gunman flanking him suggests there's something much more devious going on.
Most haunting is the final scene, in which we're shown Elliot actually approaching the headquarters of E Corp. Will he make a deal with the devil?
Returning this season will be Emmy nominee B. D. Wong as the Dark Army's leader Whiterose, Grace Gummer's badass FBI agent Dom DiPierro and Martin Wallström's Tyrell Wellick doing some serious drinking.
Mr Robot begins its explosive new season on the USA Network on Wednesday, October 11 in the US. In the UK, Amazon Prime Video streams the Emmy Award-winning series.
